Carter Poust

"Summertime is the season to get together with friends and family living in other parts of the country. Pool parties and barbecues are always the best way to play catch up."

Born in Geneva, Illinois, but raised in Boulder, Colorado, this veteran dancer earned a bachelors degree in theater and dance at the University of Colorado. After graduation, he traveled the U.S. performing in summer stock, dinner theater and regional theater.

In 1978, he moved to Las Vegas where his talent and dashing good looks quickly landed him a role in the Casino de Paris show at the Dunes Hotel

A year later, he moved up The Strip to the Stardust Hotel, where he spent the next 12 years as a dancer in the Lido de Paris.

Then, in 1990, he and partner John Kendrick moved to Palm Springs, becoming innkeepers when they purchased their own boutique hotel.

But "once a dancer, always a dancer," so after a 21 year hiatus (and several auditions), Carter put on his dance shoes and joined the Follies' cast, where he's now a Follies sophomore at age 57.

• Carter's favorite activities include dancing (of course), skiing, rollerblading, swimming, sprucing up the hotel that he owns with partner and fellow Follies cast member John Kendrick, and sitting outside and looking at the stars at night.
• His favorite television shows are White Collar, Royal Pains, Big Bang Theory and 20/20.
• Gracie, the couple's West Highland terrier, loves his keepers' Puppy Pool Parties. Weekly, a group of friends get together for a picnic while their doggies lounge on rafts, jump off diving boards, and, of course, practice the "dog paddle."
• At Last, You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You, It's My Life and Cry Me A River are Carter's favorites tunes.
• Dancers that he especially admires include Bob Fosse, Cyd Charisse and choreographer Ron Lewis.
• Being a caregiver was the most challenging experience of his life.
