Dear Group Leaders and Tour Operators,
BREAKING NEWS!!!!
We're happy to announce that the Follies' opening guest
star for our all-new 17th edition is beloved television, Broadway
and motion picture star Kaye Ballard!
During the Follies' 14th season, this consummate entertainer captivated Plaza Theatre audiences with her quick-witted comedy and playful song, so we know Follies' patrons will be thrilled with her return, October 30 – December 31, 2007.
Eve
Arden & Kaye Ballard in "The Mothers-In-Law."In
addition, 11th season comic impressionist Babe
Pier makes
his return engagement along with his legendary "cast of characters," ranging
from a clenched-jawed "Kirk Douglas" to a comically rustic
"Walter Brennan."
Reservations for groups of 20 or more are now being accepted for our 17th season, running from October 30, 2007, through May 18, 2008. The theme will be Tin Pan Alley and the show will feature everyone's most-loved melodies. Please call soon to reserve!
And
we still have three months remaining of the Follies' spectacular
16th edition, Gotta Dance!, starring
musical guest stars Gloria Loring (through March 18) and
Mimi Hines (March 20 through May 20). Some great group seating
is still available, so call us today to reserve before it's
too late!
Finally, you will find more information below about a very special event being held in partnership with the UCLA Center on Aging here at the Plaza Theatre on Friday evening, this coming May 4. Combined with a matinee performance of the Follies either that day or the next, this makes a perfect group package to Palm Springs.
For more information or to reserve your group block for any of the above performances or events, simply phone, fax or email us at the numbers below and a group representative will be happy to confirm your arrangements.
We look forward to welcoming your groups back the Fabulous Follies!
Thank you.
Sincerely,

A Special Event With the UCLA Center on Aging
For 16 years the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies has
vividly demonstrated that growing older needn't mean growing old.
Our beautiful, energetic dancers delight and amaze audiences through
nine 3-hour shows per week, seven months per year. The UCLA
Center on Aging is
a leading center for research and education programs on the mental
and physical health of seniors. For the first time ever, these two
organizations are joining forces to present an entertaining and informative
evening symposium, Living Better Longer.
UCLA Center on Aging Director Dr. Gary Small and Follies Co-Founder Riff Markowitz will lead an "all star" panel of Follies cast members (ages 58 to 83), including Guinness' "World's Oldest 'Still Performing' Showgirl," Dorothy Kloss. Topics will include:
- Fitness
- Diet
- Mental Acuity
- Relationships
- Careers
- Medical Advances
- Maintaining an Active Purpose
Tickets to the symposium are only $15 for the main floor and $10 for the balcony. Group tickets also available for Follies matinee performances on May 4 and 5 for attendees who wish to see first-hand a demonstration of the symposium's theme.

MARKOWITZ Follies producer and co-founder. He has
welcomed nearly 3 million patrons to the Fabulous Palm Springs
Follies during 16 seasons. Under his guidance, the show has
earned an international reputation as an extraordinary entertainment
experience and has shown the world a new way to look at aging.
As the Follies' politically incorrect Master of Ceremonies,
Markowitz has presided over 3,400 performances (without missing
a show!) and, with his pithy and satirical onstage observations,
has confronted then deflated cultural tensions ranging from
race to religion to age. |

GLORIA LORING:
Thru March 18th, 2007
"The phrase 'Back by popular demand!' is sometimes carelessly used," notes Follies Impresario Riff Markowitz, "but in the case of Gloria Loring, it's true! Rarely has the return of a Follies guest star created such anticipation among our patrons."
Loring, now 60, first guest-starred at the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies during Season 12. The medley of great blues standards she performed that year stopped the show nightly and is prominently featured on the currently available Follies CD, Great Moments at the Follies, Vol. 1. She reprises the medley throughout her Jan 10 through March 18 run on the stage of the historic Plaza Theatre.
In addition, Loring performs her customary assortment of classic and contemporary hits, including her own Number One record from 1986, "Friends and Lovers." Whether they know her from her many concert appearances or from her seven-year run as Liz Chandler on NBC's Days of Our Lives, audiences agree with the Los Angeles Times that Loring is "one of the purest musical talents in mainstream pop today."
MIMI HINES:
March 21 - May 20th, 2007
Although Fabulous Palm Springs Follies guest star Mimi Hines, 73, has been a music and comedy star through six decades, her appeal remains undiminished. As recently as January of this year, she triumphed in the New York City Center revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies, inspiring Variety to call her a "showstopper," and The New York Times to proclaim her performance "terrific" and "touching."
Miss Hines and her then comedy partner, Phil Ford, first attracted national notice in a 1958 appearance on The Tonight Show. The duo performed together full time until 1972, and reunited periodically - including a delightful turn as Follies guest stars throughout Season Two - until shortly before Mr. Ford passed away in 2005.
On the legit stage, Miss Hines took on the seemingly impossible task of replacing Barbra Streisand in the original Broadway production of Funny Girl, and then headlined the show for another 18 months of packed houses! She starred in numerous tours of musical comedies over the years and returned to the Great White Way in a revival of Grease. More recently, she stopped the show nightly in Los Angeles productions of On the Twentieth Century and Pippin.
Notes Follies impresario Riff Markowitz: "It has been 14 years since Miss Hines appeared on our stage: too long, but well worth the wait."
In the coming months, Follies ambassadors will be attending the following tradeshows and would be delighted to meet with you or your representative about the many ways the Follies can assist YOU in filling your motorcoaches!
